103 Days of Darkness

Life on an Antarctic research station when the sun's gone down for the winter...and then come back up again

The Wonderful World of the Windy Bay Penguins

After 103 days (for them and us) in the dark the sun is back and the wind has died down, the temperatures are slowly going to creep up away from -50 and the newly hatched penguin chicks are peeking out to get a glimpse of their beautiful white world for the first time.

Soon the males’ partners will be back and the chicks will be delicately passed from one parent to the other so the mother can feed them up and the father can head out to sea for some much needed feeding!
